Carma is a product of the public education system, navigating the challenges and obstacles that many students face. But her path took a profound turn when she became associated with Myers Middle School and the YMCA's "children of prisoners program." These programs, designed to nurture and support children with incarcerated family members, became the catalyst for Carma's personal growth and her emergence as a compassion led thought leader.

Before entering the program, Carma was a shy and hurting young girl, searching for healing and a sense of purpose. The YMCA program became her refuge, providing a nurturing environment that allowed her to heal and develop her leadership skills. Carma is truly aware of the importance and impact of education and is calling for its reform in funding, transportation, and safety.
